WinLock Professional 5.11

Software developer Crystal Office Systems rolled out two versions of WinLock to the public. The first version is simply called WinLock – it is an easy to use, powerful tool to manage computer usage. With this application you can specify how long someone can use the computer, what applications that user can access, what sites the user can visit, what Start menu and context menus the user can view, what system functions the user can access, and what drives the user can see.

The second version is called WinLock Professional. As you can imagine, this version does all the bits and pieces WinLock can do. This version is meant for the pro user and computer administrator. Consequently it comes with a few extras. These extras:

- Restrictions can be applied on a per account basis. This is to say you can set up different restrictions for each user account in a multi-user environment.
- Enhanced Internet Explorer policies and enhanced content filtration suited to control and protect Internet access.
- WinLock simply blocked access the sites that were not in the trusted sites list. WinLock Pro comes with a content filter feature that scans the entire page, including the hidden meta-tags for any prohibited words. If a site contains a prohibited word, WinLock Professional will not let the user access said site.
- To protect your sensitive, confidential information, WinLock Professional comes with a file encryption feature that uses a strong Blowfish encryption algorithm.

In my eyes WinLock is already a wonderful tool. The extra functionality provided by this Pro version only makes this application an even more enticing download.
